Auxiliary and Business Services provides hospitality, event management, student residence services, and business and support services for the University community and the public at large. Auxiliary and Business Services employs approximately 1,200 employees and 3,000 part-time employees across the University system.

Auxiliary and Business Services is directly responsible for the operation and maintenance of: The Bryce Jordan Center, a 16,000-seat arena perched near Beaver Stadium, that is home to Penn State athletic and academic events, as well as head-liner entertainment, family, and sporting events; Hospitality Services (The Nittany Lion Inn and The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel) which brings to the University community and its visitors unparalleled dining and lodging hospitality experiences through the legendary Nittany Lion Inn and the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, one of the most technologically advanced university-based facilities in the United States; the Penn State id+ Card Office (student identification program); and Housing and Food Service operations, which offers services at University Park and nine other Penn State locations. Housing offers a variety of living options and amenities like in-room computer hook-ups, cable television, ID card access, and residential computing services. Food Services provides award-winning products and services through an array of operations: campus restaurants, dining commons, JAVA Catering and the Penn State Bakery.

Auxiliary and Business Services is also the provider of support services to the University and includes the areas of Multimedia & Print Center, Procurement Services, and Transportation Services.

The Multimedia & Print Center offers project coordination, printing, mailing (and US Mail and campus mail distribution), addressing, and design services to the University community. The center is the only authorized provider of official University stationery, including letterhead, envelopes, and business cards. It also provides copying, digital printing services, and course packet (class notes) production for the University. The unit also manages the acquisition of the copier and multifunction devices at the University through its cost per copy program and is responsible for the procurement of external printing through the Print Portal.

Procurement Services provides effective means to procure required goods and services for the University and administers the areas of Central Distribution Services and General Stores, Licensing Programs, Purchasing Programs (including the Faculty-Staff Purchasing Card), Lion Surplus, and Travel Services.

The area of Transportation Services under Auxiliary and Business Services oversees parking facilities and parking permit distribution, as well as vehicles for official University travel and an intra-campus transportation system. The division has two subdivisions: Fleet Operations and Parking Office.

University Park Airport (UNV), the regional airport of Central Pennsylvania, in 2007 had 144,160 passenger enplanements. Today, UNV offers service by three major commercial air carriers: USAirways, United, and Northwest, in addition to serving general and corporate aviation. As the sixth busiest commercial service airport in the Commonwealth, UNV’s economic impact on the local economy is estimated at $90 million annually.
