Housing offers a variety of living options and amenities like in-room computer hook-ups, cable television, ID card access, and residential computing services. Food Services provides award-winning products and services through an array of operations: campus restaurants, dining commons, JAVA Catering and the Penn State Bakery.
Auxiliary and Business Services is also the provider of support services to the University and includes the areas of Multimedia & Print Center, Procurement Services, and Transportation Services.
The Multimedia & Print Center offers project coordination, printing, mailing (and US Mail and campus mail distribution), addressing, and design services to the University community. The center is the only authorized provider of official University stationery, including letterhead, envelopes, and business cards. It also provides copying, digital printing services, and course packet (class notes) production for the University. The unit also manages the acquisition of the copier and multifunction devices at the University through its cost per copy program and is responsible for the procurement of external printing through the Print Portal.
Procurement Services provides effective means to procure required goods and services for the University and administers the areas of Central Distribution Services and General Stores, Licensing Programs, Purchasing Programs (including the Faculty-Staff Purchasing Card), Lion Surplus, and Travel Services.
The area of Transportation Services under Auxiliary and Business Services oversees parking facilities and parking permit distribution, as well as vehicles for official University travel and an intra-campus transportation system. The division has two subdivisions: Fleet Operations and Parking Office.
University Park Airport (UNV), the regional airport of Central Pennsylvania, in 2007 had 144,160 passenger enplanements. Today, UNV offers service by three major commercial air carriers: USAirways, United, and Northwest, in addition to serving general and corporate aviation. As the sixth busiest commercial service airport in the Commonwealth, UNV’s economic impact on the local economy is estimated at $90 million annually.
