Housing and Residence Life Earns Awards Penn State recently won the 2002 James Hurd Outstanding Service Award at the 32nd Annual MACUHO (Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers) Conference, which was held October 23-25 in Valley Forge, PA. The award is presented each year to the MACUHO committee member or executive board member who provides outstanding contributions to MACUHO. This year’s award was presented to Wendy Jones, Auxiliary and Business Services marketing manager and MACUHO newsletter editor. An additional award was given to The Pennsylvania State University for its continuing support of MACUHO. In presenting the second award to the University, Katie Boone, MACUHO past president said: “This year we have decided to give a second award to the institution of Penn State. It has served as host chair to MACUHO twice, once in 1978 and again in 1995. It has given MACUHO many incredible board members, including in recent years, Kathy Krinks, Nancy Watson, Dave Manos, Cindy Freeman-Fail, as well as our past president, Fred Fotis. Further, it has given us countless committee members and participants. Finally, it has served as host for our newsletter…. So it is a great honor that I award Penn State the James Hurd Outstanding Service Award. We . . . pass on our gratitude to Lynn DuBois and all those at Penn State that have made a dramatic impact on what is MACUHO.”
