Penn State offers many diversity recruiting and training programs through Finance and Business, Office of Human Resources, and other units across the University. Below is a list of links to several programs that promote a diverse setting in all aspects of the University.
Finance and Business – Diversity
Finance and Business is committed to creating a welcoming and diverse environment for all of its units. Out of its diversity key initiative, F&B has created a dedicated Diversity Key Initiative Team, and many programs, initiatives, and policies along with it.
Affirmative Action Office – Diversity Education Services
Diversity Education Services is a support system within the Affirmative Action Office that promotes the development of multicultural understanding and serves as a forum for staff and supervisors to discuss conflict. It also provides assistance to managers, supervisors, and faculty on managing diversity issues.
Affirmative Action Office – Searches and Recruitment
The Affirmative Action Office Searches and Recruitment page provides tools to search faculty information forms, applicant pools, search committee presentations, and more. There are also links to recruitment resources and diversity workforce guidelines.
Office of Human Resources – Diversity Programs
Several diversity programs are offered free of charge through The Penn State Human Resources Development Center. The courses advance the communication and education that promote a diverse work environment. The programs cover many diversity subjects such as stereotyping and office dynamics.
Office of Human Resources – Employee Recruitment
The Office of Human Resources’ recruitment programs focus on the successful recruitment of employees and building a diverse environment for all units within the University. A part of the program is the Diversity Talent Bank and Outreach Program, which provides a pool of diverse applicants for University employers.
Office of Human Resources – Hire Power
Hire Power is a program involving the strategies in hiring key employee talent into the many Penn State units and departments. By targeting employee turnover, customer service, and employee morale, the program teaches planning and hiring processes to strengthen the Penn State workforce.
Framework to Foster Diversity – Best Potential Practices
Potential Best Practices highlight the potential items that were identified by the review teams responsible for evaluating each unit’s progress in creating A Framework to Foster Diversity at Penn State: 2004-2009. Practices include the promotion of collaboration, diversity integration within University departments and units, and communication.
Penn State Library – Diversity Media Materials
The University Libraries offer many videos (in VHS and DVD formats) regarding hundreds of diversity issues and topics through its MediaTech Catalog . The videos are a great tool for diversity forums, discussions, courses, and personal interest.
