Stop by from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 at the Weston Community Center. - Annual Community Resources Fair Set for Sept. 17
Downtown State College will host its annual Community Resources Fair from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Borough Building (South Pugh Street) on September 17. The event is an opportunity for local agencies to discuss with residents the resources available to them in the area. - Videoconferencing Program Saves Time and Money

In June, the 2008-2013 F&B Strategic Plan was published and the full document is viewable online. Heading into the next five years, the plan covers many important areas such as F&B’s framework, guiding principles, and key initiatives.
The plan can also be downloaded in PDF format. - New Privacy Manager Joins Risk Management Office
F&B would like to welcome Sarah Morrow to Penn State. Joining the University Risk Management Office, Sarah will fill the positions of privacy manager and chief privacy officer. She brings with her experience from the banking and mortgage industries, most recently as privacy compliance officer for Zions Bank in Nevada. - F&B Approves Statement on Acts of Intolerance
As part of its Key Initiative to Foster Diversity, Finance & Business has adopted a Statement on Acts of Intolerance, outlining behavior and actions that are deemed inappropriate and harmful in the workplace. Former Senior Vice President for Finance & Business/Treasurer Gary Schultz received the Arnold Addison Award from the Borough of State College (pdf). The award recognizes significant achievement in supporting a strong town-gown relationship. Congratulations Gary! - F&B's First Wellness Fair a Hit
Thousands of employees flocked to the BJC for the first installment of F&B's Healthier U Wellness Fair. The event featured a large range of wellness services and practices from over 25 vendors and groups. - F&B Welcomes Kofi Ofori to its Central Office
Beginning April 20, Kofi Ofori will assume the role of special assistant to the senior vice president for Finance & Business. Kofi returns to F&B with a variety of experience, most recently as a recruiting manager for Robert Half Finance and Accounting in New York. In 2002 Kofi was a purchasing agent with Penn State and was also F&B’s first diversity intern. - United Way Thanks F&B
The United Way Luncheon to thank the Finance & Business staff who led this year's campaign was held on April 14 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. Guest speaker Gary Schultz thanked all involved for another successful year. See Photos. - Amaechi Speaks to University Technical Service Employees
Over three days, nearly 800 staff members attended several talks by Penn State alumnus and former NBA player John Amaechi. The events were held in the Bryce Jordan Center's Founders Room and focused on the University's technical services employees.

Joel Weidner, director of information systems for Auxiliary & Business Services, was elected as the board chair of the National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU) at the association's annual meeting held on March 11 in Orlando. - Unisex bathrooms available in many Penn State buildings
Unisex bathrooms are currently accessible in many academic, administrative, and athletic buildings at the University Park campus and several commonwealth colleges. The restrooms provide "safe places" for the transgender community of Penn State. A list of the bathrooms is available on the LGBTA Web site.
- Teamwork a Theme at Office Tailgate
Semi-annually, the Research Accounting Office and the Office of Sponsored Programs get together to network and build teamwork between coworkers. This year, they tailgated before Penn State’s clash versus Ohio State. - Denny Stewart Retires After 38 Years at Penn State
The Nittany Lion Inn was filled with memories and kind words on November 12 as many friends, colleagues, and fellow employees gathered to celebrate the retirement of Denny Stewart. - Show Off Your Office's Penn State Pride
F&B wants to hear your "Tales from the Tailgate." On November 21, F&B employees were encouraged to show their Penn State spirit by holding a tailgate themed party in their offices. Some offices dressed in blue and white to celebrate the Nittany Lions' last home game of the season versus Michigan State on November 22. View photos from the tailgates. Employees can also send in their party stories, photos, and tailgate recipes to wxj6@psu.edu to be featured on the F&B web site. - Two Diversity Awards are Open for Nominations Two awards recognizing individuals who make exceptional contributions to the Penn State lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community are open for nominations. Please read the criteria for each award and consider nominating a person who exemplifies the qualities listed. The two awards, the Outstanding Service Award and Ally Recognition Award, will be presented in the HUB-Robeson Center on Friday, April 18, 2008.

The Multicultural Resource Center is hosting its annual Senior Awards and Diversity Recognition Reception on April 10. The center is presently accepting nominations for the awards. Feel free to nominate faculty or staff members who have consistently promoted multiculturalism and sensitivity toward the needs of students of color. - Budget Office Announced its Biggest Loser Steve Neeper shed almost 22 lbs. over eight weeks to become the University Budget Office’s “Biggest Loser.”
- Amaechi, QS/QP Awards Headline Annual Spring Retreat This year’s F&B Spring Retreat featured a talk from keynote speaker John Amaechi, four new Quality Service, Quality People Awards , and thorough discussions regarding F&B’s key initiatives.
- Penn State Continues Commitment to Green Construction Penn State is building one of the greenest law schools in the country. Penn State Dickinson School of Law’s two locations will feature modern green building methods that will aim to conserve resources and promote environmental awareness.
- F&B Improvements Noted in Latest Diversity Climate Survey Results
As part of its Diversity Key Initiative, Finance and Business is continually developing new ways to improve the diversity climate in its units and maintain each office’s progress. A major step in that improvement is the 2007 Diversity Climate Survey. - Ask and Learn…There are No Dumb Questions

The experience develops community leadership among those who aim to make a difference and a positive change for Centre County.

- Internal Audit Launches Web Site
The Office of Internal Audit recently posted its Web site. The Internal Audit evaluates operational, electronic, and financial controls throughout the University. - The Country's First Green Stadium
Penn State’s Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is the first sports stadium in the country to be certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. The stadium, which achieved its certification in July, uses many green initiatives and is recognized in the September issue of “Building Design & Construction Magazine.” - F&B Employees Clean up Historic Mansion for Day of Caring For the second year in a row, members of the University Budget Office and the University Financial Officers helped clean up the Centre Furnace Mansion for the United Way’s annual Day of Caring.
